Takayama in Ikoma, Nara Prefecture, is Japan's historic center of bamboo tea-ceremony craft, where artisans have shaped bamboo wares by hand for centuries.
It is made by hand from natural bamboo by Takayama artisans of the long-established Chikumeido workshop.
A futaoki — the rest on which the kettle lid or the ladle is set during the tea ceremony. Made from fresh green bamboo (aotake). Sealed in a vacuum pack to keep the fresh bamboo from drying out before use.
Our green bamboo products are all vacuum-packed and do not change color for a long time, and are of finest grade.

Care: rinse in water and wipe dry after use; avoid detergent, dishwashers and prolonged soaking, and let the bamboo dry fully to prevent splitting or mold.
