Collection: Matcha & Tea Ceremony Tools
Japanese tea ceremony supplies and matcha tools made in Takayama, Nara, the historic home of the Japanese tea whisk. The current range is sourced from there. Shipped worldwide from Japan.
What you can choose from:
- Chasen, the hand cut bamboo tea whisk. This is the largest part of the collection, and it is one of the things that affects how well matcha foams. Several grades and tine counts are available.
- Chashaku, the bamboo tea scoop, in smoked, aged and naturally spotted bamboo, including a Daitokuji style form.
- Futaoki lid rests, sold as matched pairs, some carrying a maker's signature (kao).
- Hanaire bamboo flower vases for the tokonoma, in hitoegiri, tsuribune and shakuhachi forms.
- Yoji tea sweets picks, and chadogu utensil sets, including sets put together for people starting out.
If you are new to this, our guides cover the basics: Japanese matcha tools for beginners, how to choose an authentic Takayama chasen, chasen care and when to replace it, and what a kensui is for.
Bamboo tea utensils are made in small workshops, and pieces of the same type differ by the bamboo used and how it is cut. Ordering from Japan is how you get the piece the workshop actually made, in the grade it was made in.
We sell single pieces to individual practitioners, and wholesale quantities to tea retailers, matcha cafes, specialty grocers and importers.
